Possibilities (2010) 8 x8 in. encaustic on board
I haven't been totally neglecting my art work over the last several weeks.
I have three new pieces finished for my Reading a Garden show in late May. YES! I also took time out from that series to create the work above. Possibilities is going to be part a collection of original art work that Visual Artists Newfoundland and Labrador (
VANL) will use as a fundraiser for the organization. There will be several winners in the ticket draw , each winner will receive a collection of 6 original works of art. The event is called 6 Easy Pieces. The tickets go on sale around mid February. This is a fundraiser that will will pay artists 50% of the value of the work. So I get something out of it too. Maybe I'll be lucky and win one of the collections when I buy a ticket. All the work will soon be posted on the VANL site.
In Possibilities we are reminded that seeds promise the energy of new life when the world is fallow.

A truly marvelous painting, Margaret! I love the concept, design, muted palette, and nuanced forms. It's elegant and "free."

ReplyDeleteit is a piece that seems to imply peacefulness and serenity. It is quiet--but assured.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, it's wonderful. The little brown dots are precious. The sweetness reminds me of traditional Chinese art and the color scheme balances out the delicate marks. It gives me the impression of a gentle manner with inner strength.

I plan a trip there next year and would love to combine it with a workshop in encaustics.So you teach or know where there might be classes?
