What I've been reading

When I'm not so productive in the studio, I'm usually reading about art.  This is my latest book about acrylics by Nancy Reyner who also wrote Acrylic Revolution.  I love a book I can pick up and start to read anywhere and that is how this one is set up. This book is "loaded with original artwork and valuable insight from 64 artists, incredibly diverse in styles and subjects, each using acrylic in unique ways to create expressive and personal art".The range of styles displayed cause you to think about your own work within this range and to question where you might change, expand or reinforce your own practice. As I read I'm the imaginary 65 artist using the format set down to examine my own practice. The layout is wonderful, it is interesting, easy to read in snippets, and gives you perfect starting points to push your own boundaries.  I give it my best two thumbs up.

What a great resource. I learned a lot just from reading the "Look inside" feature at Amazon. It is now on my wish list. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a great book. I don't own it, but I'll browse through it at the bookstore.

I've been thinking about getting this book for a while; I've looked through it at the bookstore and loved it. I enjoyed her other book, but I loaned it to someone that hasn't given it back. And probably won't, and I don't remember who it was. Oh well. Glad to see such a good review. Thanks, Margaret.

Thanks for the review. I have the previous book and enjoyed it. I'm not sure I tried any of the things from Revolution but it's nice to have it on my shelf--just in case.

Thanks for your helpful and positive review, Margaret. This title is being delivered today and now I'm getting excited about doing more paintings!
