Questions

I've begun a new body of work that combines wallpaper and landscape. I was going to post
two of these works but I've decided to wait awhile. I've made this decision because I don't want the work to be influenced by comments before I have decided if I am where I want to be with the series. I want to muddle my way through my doubts and questions for awhile yet. I like to keep my process and content true to my own voice. How about you?

Do you like to hold your new work close or do you show it to family and friends for reaction?

Do you think it is a good idea to put your new work (that might not be fully evolved) on your blog?

How influenced are you by the comments of others?

Here's a sneak peek at some of the images that influenced my new landscapes. It will get you thinking.

I'm with you, Margaret. I like to work my way through things before posting.

I did post one work--Rain Bonnet-- before actually giving the woman a bonnet. Most comments favored leaving it alone; however, I had already decided she was getting a bonnet. And she did.

Comments will influence!!!!! Your work is straight on fabulous, so go with it first, we will hold our breaths!

Looking forward to seeing how you combine the two!

I always give a sneak peek to my family. Although not art critics, their "wow!" or "eh" reactions are always honest, and sometimes helpful.

I think it's important to have a clear confident feeling about your direction before posting. Good or bad comments can muddle a developing vision.

Hi Margaret, I have only recently just begun to put my work up on a blog while it is about midway. Supportive comments have been encouraging and documenting as i go along has really helped me. I am going to do what i think regardless of comments but it is nice to get some feedback.

Good luck with your new series. I will look forward to seeing what you do with this interesting wallpaper design.

Great questions...

I only show new directions to those friends whose creative opinions I trust and value - and who I think will "get it".

But somehow I'm not unlikely to post evolving work on my blog. Perhaps it's the "disconnect" of feeling somewhat removed that makes me bolder - but actually, I've gotten some of the best, most honest and useful feedback from followers and commenters here.

I don't know that I'd say I'm influenced - but I do consider what others say. Sometimes hearing negatives often reinforces my point of view, as I am forced to reexamine my process or creative path.

I love seeing your inspiration! It helps me follow your path.
