Saying good-bye

Wallpaper with hinge (2008) 14 x 28, mixed media (photo transfer, paper, acrylic paint and gels) on board

One of my favourite pieces from the Remnants series has sold. It's bittersweet. It's been hanging in my dining room for almost a year and now it is going to its permanent home. It's been purchased by the Art Bank Program which is a yearly art procurement program sponsored by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. What I like about the program is that it puts money directly into the pocket of artists and the the work is juried. This is the third year that my art and this program has been good to me.

Well, I know you will miss it, but another's gain. I enlarge to view detail, very wonderful!

Congratulations. I know it is hard to say goodbye to works we love, but just think of all the people who will fall in love with it for the first time now. Beautiful piece.

Thanks both for your encouragement. I'm over my initial loss! This piece is also the first one I created in the Remnants series and it just flew off my fingers. It was perfect early on without any tweaking. You don't get many pieces that spring to life so easily.

I find it very interesting how I can let some pieces go without any thought to missing them and others I want to clutch on to. I'm wrapping and delivering it tomorrow. I'm going through what's left from that series to see what I will replace it with on my wall. I'm glad I sold it. If we kept everything we made where would it all get stored?
