Day 1

Carol and I rolled into Provincetown this morning for day one of the encaustic conference. We are staying in the next community and driving back and forth. We debated walking but decided it was too far. We spent the whole afternoon attending a session on encaustic monotype. I've spent time doing monotype in oils early in my career and I was curious to see the parallels. There were many and that knowledge will help me extend my explorations in this medium in the future.

I enjoyed the three presenters who had very different ways of working. As in most conferences you take bits and pieces from everything you hear and make it your own. I would love to be considered a great blogger and provide lots od pics, but I left my camera at the Condo. I'm still figuring out my IPAD and haven't even figured out cut and paste yet. I'm a dismal failure but hope to improve in my reporting.

Sounds like a full day! Isn't it interesting how differently artists work with their medium.

Margaret, you are so fortunate to be at the conference. I have been reading about it for a while. I hope you fill us in about all the wonderful things you learn. And post some pictures, too. Enjoy.

Mary, I have so much to say but the learning curve on this I PAD is annoying me . I am limited by that right now but I did figure out cut and paste so I'm improving. I will have lengthy posts when I get back home.
