Spring

Sprout, 10 x 14, monotype

Spring finally seems to have found Newfoundland. I thought this lively monotype matched my mood today. I would like to say I created it recently, but I've been busy working with grade 5 students on an art project in a local school. Today is my last day so hopefully there'll soon be something new to share.

For those of you who may not know this process, stay tuned. I'm preparing a detailed post about it. It was this process that helped me decide I could be an artist in 2001. I've been teaching my granddaughter the two year old version with fingerpaint.

There has never been a doubt in my mind that you are an artist!

Thank you Leslie. I asked the question once "Can you be an artist if you aren't producing work?" It led to a lot of discussion. I had so many years where I produced absolutely nothing but in my heart I still felt like an artist.

This is simply exquisite. A very painterly and energetic composition! It was the monotype process that first lured me into fine art many years ago.

You have a gift for monotype and you're an inspiration.

I look forward to reading about your process.

The first word that came to mind when I saw this little picture is "Joy"...what a happy little fellow! I've been having fun with monotype a lot lately, and can't get enough of it! Sometimes I just have way too much fun! I look forward to your post about the process!

This is beautiful -such vibrant colours! I look forward to reading your post. I find that teaching is a great way of learning! I gather from your comment on my blog that you've given your role as a teacher a lot of thought.
Thank you for taking your time to comment on my ethical dilemma. I appreciate all your comments a lot, and this one was particularly supportive.
